10,000 Civilians in Kampala Have Guns

Kampala City has over 10,000 licenced firearms in private hands, Sunday Monitor has learnt. An unspecified number of guns, particularly pistols, is also believed to be in the hands of Members of Parliament and businessmen. Some sources put the number at about 100. A reliable source close to the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), told Sunday Monitor that the rate at which civilians are demanding for guns is alarming.
