Psychiatrist Says Tougher Gun Laws in Italy Help But Homicide Level Still High

ROME - The murder cases registered in Italy last year marked the record low since the republic was founded some 150 years ago, which experts said was an evidence that the economic crisis does not foster extreme violence when the nation-state is perceived as strong.
"What I found was that the economic crisis does not affect murders," Marzio Barbagli, a sociology professor emeritus at the University of Bologna told Xinhua on Wednesday.
