The Conservative's principal argument has been that the provisions of the Gun Control Bill have not been effective as a crime control measure and that the bill victimizes rural, long gun owners.
They conveniently forget that 75 per cent of firearms deaths in Canada are due to suicide. Rural Canadians are overrepresented in this sad statistic and the great majority of these are caused by long guns.
