Pennsylvania law long has held that someone may use deadly force to protect his home; it's known as the Castle Doctrine.
In a tawdry case of pandering to the gun lobby, the Legislature has passed an unneeded bill expanding the Castle Doctrine far beyond the home. The bill promotes gun violence by eliminating another legal standard, the duty to retreat, thus making armed confrontations far more likely.
