The personal aide to Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Simon Overland carried a semi-automatic pistol, police confirmed last night. A spokesman said Mr Overland, who has headed inquiries including the anti-underworld Purana Taskforce, was a public figure and had a high profile as a result of his position.
