BRASILIA — Arms sales increased 27.85 percent in Brazil so far this year, according to a survey prior to an October 23 referendum, when most citizens are expected to vote for a ban on sale of weapons. Daily O Globo dedicated several pages to this referendum, including the survey reporting 68,800 firearms sold up to October, a 27.85 percent rise compared to 2004.
