Marking of small arms and light weapons is carried out by the producer in accordance with the Decree adopted by the Government of the Slovak Republic No. 397/1999 Coll., Article 15 which requires establishing details on technical requirements and procedures of conformity approval of SALW and ammunition…

Producers of fire-arms are, in accordance with the international agreements to which the Slovak Republic is a party, required, to use conventional international marks for identification of producer. There is also a weaponry in use which bears domestic military marks and was marked by a representative of individual military production, whereby there used military marks in terms of national legislation in force at that time.

In relation to arms for military use, the Ministry of Defence requests that imported and exported arms are marked with the name of the manufacturer, the country of manufacture and the serial number. Marking of additional information such as the year of manufacture, the weapon type/model and the calibre are also needed.

Regarding small arms and light weapons each manufacturer in Slovakia is obliged to mark each of them with its name, model, year of manufacture and serial number.
