Management of State Owned Firearms
Steps have been taken to improve the management of State owned firearms. This includes a comprehensive audit of all State owned firearms, the standardisation of calibre's used and the improvement of safekeeping facilities.
Some R3.2 million (approximately US$320,000) was approved in July 2001 for the upgrading and/or installation of new safes for the South African Police Services alone.
