Civilian Possession

As regards the possession, SALWs [small arms and light weapons] are only used by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) and a limited number of governmental agencies for purposes of national defences.

Vietnamese domestic laws prohibit civilian population of SALW's acquisition or possession.

[In the context of the United Nations process in which this statement was made, the term 'small arms' is sometimes used to refer to military-pattern firearms.]
