NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge has backed a state government decision not to allow the use of gun silencers, saying it's proof the NSW Game Council should be abolished.
The Game Council was set up by the former Labor government in 2002 as a statutory authority to regulate hunting in the state.

A double-barrelled shotgun a Perth man gave to a gunsmith for disposal has been found by police at the home of a suspected criminal almost 18 months later.
The gunsmith had modified the weapon so it was unusable.

Firearms are being returned by police in a majority of domestic violence cases where one of the parties has a gun licence.
Figures obtained from the NSW Police firearms registry under freedom of information laws show up to 2309 licences were suspended in domestic violence cases from 2008 to 2010 under sections 22 and 23 of the Firearms Act.
