During a routine traffic stop on July 15 police discovered an unsecured weapon in the car of a 69-year-old Mount Morgan man.

When police later searched the man’s home they found another 28 weapons, including eight handguns.

Through further investigations police uncovered a total of 150 weapons at two other homes.

The loot included an AK47, 20 handguns, semi-automatic weapons - some of which had been converted to automatic weapons - as well as cross bows.

Three men have been arrested and charged with a total of 132 weapons offences. The trio will face Rockhampton Magistrates Court next month.

One of the men is believed to be a former caretaker of the Mount Morgan Gun Club.

‘‘The charges relate to unlawful possession of weapons, failure to secure weapons and possession of unregistered firearms,’’ a police spokeswoman said.
