OTTAWA — The gun registry has moved one critical step closer to its slow demise.
MPs voted 164-137 in favour of C-391, a private member's bill from Manitoba MP Candice Hoeppner to abolish the 14-year-old registry. Cheers of applause rippled through the House of Commons tonight after the vote passed with the support of 21 Liberal, NDP and independent MPs.

Maryland Judges Say Second Amendment No Obstacle to Gun Control

I've written recently about how courts in New Jersey and Illinois have concluded that the Second Amendment poses no obstacle to local governments enacting stringent anti-gun laws.
Now a Maryland appeals court has followed suit. A three-judge panel ruled last Thursday that the Second Amendment does not interfere with a Maryland law that generally restricts state residents from carrying handguns.

OTTAWA — Opponents of a long-gun registry in Canada are about to put a bullet in it.

PANCHKULA, Haryana — All arms dealers in this Haryana district have been asked to install closed circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and appoint a guard at night after an arms shop was robbed of weapons and ammunitions worth nearly Rs.1 million last week, police said.
