SEOUL — The North Korean freighter that changed course after being tracked by the U.S. Navy appears to be carrying conventional small arms, including Soviet-era rifles and anti-tank launchers, a source said Saturday.
"Most of its consignments are believed to be small-scale military supplies such as AK-47 rifles and RPG-7 anti-tank rocket launchers," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the information has to do with intelligence.

Local politicians and peace advocates are chagrined that Manitoba is selling guns to Saudi Arabia, one of the most authoritarian countries in the world.
"I think a Canadian company exporting small arms to the Middle East is a disgrace," said Winnipeg Centre NDP MP Pat Martin. "Arms dealers fuel conflicts, plain and simple, and God knows what violence the Saudis are sponsoring this month."

The district arms officer says without firearms being registered in New Zealand there is no real control over them.
Paul McLennan, who has been in the role 27 years, said registration of individual firearms — scrapped in New Zealand in 1983 — once kept holders of firearm licences accountable and responsible for their weapons. It also helped identify stolen firearms.

CHASSAHOWITZKA — They wore earplugs and had to scream over machine gun fire, but that didn't stop a couple of gung ho firearms enthusiasts from swapping a few jokes.
