In the early 1990s, the number of people in the USA killed or wounded by firearms soared. The carnage peaked in the year 1993 when more than 64 000 Americans were either wounded or killed by gunshot during the commission of a murder, robbery, or some other violent crime. Overall about 18 000 people were killed in firearm-related homicides that year. In addition, roughly 19 000 more killed themselves with a firearm. Fighting Felons With Illegal Guns

Attorney General Mike Fisher opened a campaign Thursday with Bucks County law enforcement officials to promote public awareness of a new state law that increases the penalty for convicted felons who illegally possess guns.
Some Democrats described the move as a GOP political ploy.
Flanked by Bucks County District Attorney Diane Gibbons and State Rep. Chuck McIlhinney (R., Bucks), who sponsored the bill last October, Fisher called the new law "a preventative measure"... (GunPolicy.org)
Four Teens Arrested in Theft of More Than 2 Dozen Guns

Police have arrested four teenagers suspected of stealing more than two dozen shotguns, handguns, Uzis and other firearms from a northern Illinois gun shop.
All four, including two sons of the man who runs the gun shop from his Caledonia home, were arrested late Wednesday and early Thursday on charges of aggravated possession of firearms.
