A handgun amnesty and buy-back in the ACT has netted 660 weapons, around 100 fewer than expected by police. The amnesty results were issued on the same day as a study by the Australian Institute of Criminology. The study found handguns were being used more often in firearms-related deaths. Detective Sergeant Mick Sinclair said a variety of different weapons had been handed in, and authorities had received strong cooperation from licensed gun owners and clubs.... (GunPolicy.org)
