Artículo 192: Declárense de uso exclusivo del Ejercito Nacional, Armada Nacional, Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya y la Policía… todas las armas largas de fuego para cartuchos de fuego central y bala de calibre superior a 6.5 m/m… las pistolas automáticas de toda marca o clase, de calibres superiores a 7.65 m/m y las pistolas semi-automáticas de toda marca o clase, de calibres superiores a 9 m/m; quedando en consecuencia, prohibida su importación al país por cuenta de particulares o por instituciones oficiales o privadas. Esta disposición rige, igualmente, para la munición correspondiente a las armas mencionadas y todos los proyectiles que puedan emplearse sin armas de fuego… de uso militar.

Exclusive Use of Firearms for State Institutions

Article 192. The following firearms and weapons shall be exclusively used by the military, navy, air force and police… all long guns for centre-fire cartridges and bullets with a calibre superior to 6.5 mm… automatic pistols of any brand or class whose calibre exceeds 7.65 mm and semi-automatic pistols of any brand or class whose calibre is above 9 mm. The importation of these items by individuals or official or private institutions is prohibited. This provision also applies equally for ammunition corresponding to the aforementioned firearms and all projectiles that can be used without firearms… that are intended for military use.
