Artículo 51. Limites de Importación para Armas de Fuego

Las personas naturales o jurídicas autorizadas, podrán importar hasta un total de CINCO MIL armas de fuego por año, de las características y calibres permitidos por la Ley. Únicamente podrán sobrepasar dicha cantidad, previa solicitud y autorización expresa del Ministerio de la Defensa Nacional, cuando se trate de dotar a algunos de los Organos del Estado o sus dependencias, siempre que se comprobare fehacientemente la existencia de un requerimiento de compra por parte de dichas instituciones.

Las respectivas autorizaciones para importar artículos permitidos por la Ley, tendrán un periodo de vigencia de dos años contados a partir de su emisión.

Article 51. Import Limits for Firearms

Authorised individuals or legal persons may import up to FIVE THOUSAND firearms per year, of characteristics and calibres permitted by the Act. Exceeding this quantity may only be permitted upon request and authorisation issued by the Ministry of National Defence, and only in order to supply certain State agencies or their offices, provided that there shall be reliable evidence of an order to purchase such weapons issued by these institutions.

Corresponding authorisations to import products authorised by the Act shall be valid for two years from the date of their issuance.
