Artículo 24. Requisitos para Matrículas

Podrá extenderse matrícula de tenencia y conducción, portación y colección para armas de fuego a todos los salvadoreños y extranjeros residentes previo el cumplimiento de las formalidades y requisitos siguientes:

a) Solicitud…

b) Presentación del arma en la respectiva Oficina de Control y Registro de Armas de Fuego, donde
quedará en depósito para efectos de control y registro; cuando ésta no hubiere sido adquirida en
establecimientos nacionales debidamente autorizados para la venta.

c) Proporcionar cuatro municiones con el objeto de tomar las huellas balísticas del arma.

d) Adjuntar a la solicitud la documentación siguiente:…
- Fotocopia de la licencia para el uso de armas de fuego.

e) Ser mayor de veintiún años para las matrículas de colección, tenencia y conducción; y de veinticuatro años para la portación.

Los miembros de la Fuerza Armada de El Salvador, Policía Nacional Civil, Academia Nacional de Seguridad Pública y las personas que hubieren prestado su servicio Militar podrán obtener cualquiera de las matriculas establecidas en esta Ley, a los dieciocho años de edad.

Act No. 655 of 1999 on the Control and Regulation of Arms, Ammunition, Explosives and Related Materials

Article 24. Requirements for Registration Certificates

The registration certificate for the ownership, handling, carrying and collection of firearms shall be issued to any Salvadoran and resident foreigner, provided that they comply with the following requirements:

a) Submission of an application…

b) Present the firearm to the relevant Office for the Registration and Control of Firearms, where it shall be kept for control and registration; when it has not been acquired in a national establishment authorised to sell firearms.

c) Provide four rounds of ammunition, in order to record the ballistic fingerprint of the firearm.

d) Attach to the application the following documents:
- Copy of the licence to use the firearm.

e) Be older than 21 years of age for registration certificates for collection purposes, possession and handling; and older than 24 years of age for carrying.

Members of the Armed Forces of El Salvador, Civil National Police, National Academy of Public Security and persons who have performed their military service may be granted any registration certificates set by this Act, provided that they are 18 years old.
