Artículo 22. Trapaso de Dominio de Armas de Fuego

Todo traspaso de dominio de un arma de fuego, deberá constar en escritura pública. El notario autorizante deberá tener a la vista y relacionar en el instrumento, el número de registro de la respectiva matrícula del actual propietario, o en su defecto el documento que demuestre la legítima propiedad o posesión del arma por parte del vendedor. Así mismo, deberá relacionar el número de la licencia para uso de arma de fuego del comprador. Dicho instrumento deberá registrarse en la Oficina de Registro y Control de Armas del Ministerio de la Defensa Nacional dentro de los quince días siguientes a la fecha de celebración de la escritura. El documento registrado servirá además para la obtención de la matrícula del arma, previo cumplimiento de los requisitos exigidos por la Ley y su Reglamento…

Article 22. Ownership and Transfer of Firearms

Any transfer of ownership of a firearm shall be drawn up and certified in due legal form. The notary authorising the transfer shall record the registration number of the current owner, or, should this not be available, a document demonstrating the legitimate property or possession of the firearm on behalf of the seller. Furthermore, he shall register the number of the buyer's firearm licence. This information shall be recorded by the Firearm Registration and Control Office of the Ministry of National Defence within fifteen days following the transcation.
