El Estado venezolano, a los fines de salvaguardar la paz, la convivencia, la seguridad ciudadana y de las instituciones, así como la integridad física de las personas y de sus propiedades, implementará políticas integrales dirigidas al desarme de la población, mediante la promoción y desarrollo de acciones de concientización y sensibilización, que contemplen la instauración de una cultura de paz y respeto a los Derechos Humanos, fomentando la entrega voluntaria y la recuperación de armas de fuego y municiones, así como la destrucción de las mismas.

Act on the Disarmament and Control of Arms and Ammunition

Article 81. Guiding Principle

The Venezuelan State, in order to safeguard peace, coexistence and the security of citizens and institutions, as well as the physical integrity of people and their properties, shall implement policies aimed at the disarmament of the population through the promotion and development of actions to raise awareness and sensibility that contemplate the establishment of a culture of peace and respect for Human Rights, promoting the voluntary surrender and recovery of firearms and ammunition, as well as their destruction.
