U.S. Laws and Policies Supportive of the UN POA

In the U.S. Government, responsibility for researching and monitoring the illicit SALW trade is shared by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) (domestic), DOS (international and domestic from export, temporary import, and brokering perspectives), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Commerce Department. ATF also regulates the interstate commerce of firearms through enforcement of the GCA, AECA, and NFA, and traces firearms for domestic and international law enforcement through its National Tracing Center (NTC).
