7. Objectives of the Commission
The objectives of the Commission shall be to:
(a) contribute to creating an enabling environment to human security and to support post-war demobilisation, disarmament, rehabilitation, national recovery programmes and social stabilisation across the entire Southern Sudan;
(b) facilitate a DDR programme that takes place within a comprehensive process of national reconciliation and healing throughout Southern Sudan as part of peace and confidence building measures;
(c) address challenges of demobilisation of former combatants and vulnerable groups;
(d) to creatively and productively promote an optimal security and atmosphere which shall underpin coexistence amongst the Southern Sudan communities and war affected areas; and
(e) create the possibilities in terms of security and socio-economic reintegration to fully re-insert ex-combatants with new roles into the harmonious civilian society which shall finally enjoy the culture of peace and sustainability.
