8. Functions, Duties and Powers of the Commission

(1) The functions, duties and powers of the Commission shall be to:

(a) to develop and implement a DDR policy and strategic plans;

(b) define the DDR objectives, its target groups and their support mechanisms, and main implementation modalities;

(c) define the overall criteria for DDR implementation, screening and selection of participants, approval of benefits, and priorities in processing and similar;..

(e) ensure the overall coherence of the DDR public information and sensitization campaign, to avoid misperception and false expectations;

(f) ensure that all relevant governmental and government actors participate in a coordinated and effective manner, when they are called up to do so;…

(h) provide political coordinate and policy directive for the Commission;

(i) ensure coordination with other components of national peace building and reconstruction process;..

(k) establish standards for the Commission's activities and ensure effective delivery to the ex-combatants and vulnerable groups; and

(l) publicize studies, reports, and recommendations accepted by the President in respect to the DDR process.

(2) The Commission may engage in such other functions and exercise such other powers as conferred upon it by or under the Constitution, the President, the provisions of this Act, and or any other law.
