- Mediante la sanción de la Ley N° 26.216 se creó el Programa Nacional de Entrega Voluntaria de Armas de Fuego
El mentado programa consistió en la entrega voluntaria y anónima de armas de
fuego y municiones para su destrucción, con la finalidad de propender a la
disminución, a cambio de un incentivo, de su uso y proliferación, la reducción de accidentes, hechos de violencia y delitos ocasionados por el acceso y uso de armas y la sensibilización de sus riesgos.
El Programa Nacional de Entrega Voluntaria de Armas de Fuego, que funciona conforme los términos de la Ley N° 26.520 del 16 de diciembre de 2009, tuvo como uno de sus objetivos la reducción del circulante de armas en manos de civiles a partir de la recolección de armas de forma voluntaria y anómina a cambio de un incentivo económico…
La respuesta de la sociedad civil a la iniciativa ha sido sumamente satisfactoria, obteniéndose óptimos resultados, el total de armas de fuego recepcionadas conforme la Ley 26.216 fue de ciento siete mil cuatrocientas ochenta y ocho (107,488) lo cual representa aproximadamente el 8.8% del total de armas registradas en manos civiles.
El material recibido en el marco del Programa Nacional de Entrega Voluntaria de Armas de Fuego fue destruido por trituración y fundición. Desde la implementación del programa Ley N° 26.216 se han realizado cuatro (4) destrucciones de armas de fuego, mediante el método de trituración de esas armas y fuego el de fundición que transforma el arma en escoria o material de hierro fundido.
1ra: 24/10/2007: 20,037 armas de fuego
2da: 31/05/2008: 32,825 armas de fuego
3ra: 25/04/2009: 20,249 armas de fuego
4ta: 31/10/2009: 31,423 armas de fuego
El total de armas destruidas, Ley N° 26.216, fue de ciento cuatro mil quinientas treinta y cuatro (104,534) - doscientas cuarenta y ocho (248) armas de fuego no se destruyeron por tener procesos administrativos o judiciales pendientes de resolución.

The mentioned programme consisted of the voluntary and anonymous delivery of firearms and ammunition for destruction with the aim of promoting the
reduction in use and proliferation, in accidents, violence and crimes due to the access and use of firearms and the awareness of their risks.
The National Programme on the Voluntary Surrendering of Firearms, which operates under the terms of Law No. 26.520 of December 16, 2009, had as one of its main objectives the reduction of weapons circulating in the hands of civilians through the anonymous and voluntarily collection of weapons in exchange for financial incentives…
The civil society response to the initiative has been extremely successful, yielding excellent results, the total receipts of firearms pursuant to Law 26.216 was one hundred and seven thousand four hundred eighty-eight (107,488), which represents approximately 8.8% of the total registered weapons in civilian hands.
The material received under the National Programme on the Voluntary Surrendering of Firearms was destroyed by crushing and melting. Since the implementation of Law No. 26.216, the destruction of firearms by using the method of crushing weapons and casting, which transforms the firearms into slag or cast iron material, has occurred four (4) times.
