Es una preocupación constante de la República Dominicana, llevar adelante planes que contemplen la regularización de las armas de fuego en poder de la ciudadanía, por lo que en la actualidad se están aplicando una serie de medidas en las que incluye la modificación de la legislación actual (Ley 36, sobre Comercio, Porte y Tenencia de Armas de Fuego, 1965) y la ejecución de resoluciones y medidas administrativas que permitan un registro, regulación eficiente y automatizado.

Manufacturing and illegal trafficking of firearms, ammunition, explosives and other related material

Currently, the Dominican Republic is carrying out plans that provide for the regularization of firearms in the possession of citizens, being implemented in a number of measures which include modification of the current legislation (Law 36 on trade, carrying and possession of Firearms, 1965) and the enforcement of decisions and administrative measures that permit registration, as well as automated and efficient regulation.

…As for the application of rules to criminalize those involved in the manufacturing of illicit small arms and light weapons, there exists Law 36 (on Trade, Carrying and Possession of Firearms, 1965) and ratified by Congress, the Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials (CIFTA).
