Penalties for Unlawful Possession: 5 years (10 years if knowingly)

Safe Storage: YES (ammunition is to be stored separately; storage requirements are specified; firearms must be stored unloaded)

Penalties for Unsafe Storage: up to 2 years (up to 5 years for subsequent offence)

Carrying in Public? YES (for restricted and prohibited firearms1 need an authorization to carry and can carry only 1 firearm, which must be holstered)

Penalties for Unlawful Carrying: carrying in a 'careless manner': up to 2 years (up to 5 years for subsequent offence) unauthorized concealed carry: up to 5 years
