Civilian firearms: For want of official data, estimates of civilian gun ownership
rely on parametric modelling, yielding a high-confidence estimate of approximately
260,000 firearms in civilian hands. Equivalent to 2.5 guns per 100 residents, this is a low level by international standards, almost certainly the lowest level of ownership in South America.
