Les armes des forces armées sont enregistrées dans un registre national (central), sur papier et sur support électronique, dont la durée de conservation est illimitée. Les armes détruites, perdues ou volées sont enregistrées.
De même, les armes des services de sécurité sont enregistrées dans un registre national (central), sur papier et sur support électronique, dont la durée de conservation est illimitée. Les armes détruites, perdues ou volées sont enregistrées.
Quant à l'enregistrement des autres armes, le Décret Exécutif No 98-96 modifié et complété, prévoit aux termes de son article 76, la tenue par chaque Wilaya (Département régional) d'un fichier (registre) des détenteurs d'armes de sa circonscription, sur papier et sur support électronique. Cet article a été amendé par le Décret 04-304, pour permettre l'adoption d'un texte réglementaire qui normaliserait ces fichiers et instaurerait un fichier national (registre national).
Conformément à la législation algérienne, les fabricants et les commerçants sont tenus de conserver les registres d'enregistrement des armes pendant une période de 15 ans, pour être ensuite reversés aux archives pour une conservation illimitée. En cas de cessation d'activité, ils doivent déposer, sans délais, ces registres auprès des autorités de l'Etat concernées.

Firearms owned by the Armed Forces are registered in a National Register (central), hard copy and electronic copy, and these are kept for an unlimited period. Destroyed, lost, or stolen firearms are registered.
Firearms owned by the Security Services are registered in a National Register (central), hard copy and electronic copy, and these are kept for an unlimited period. Destroyed, lost, or stolen firearms are registered.
As for the registration of other firearms, the Executive Decree No 98-96, amended and completed, provides in article 76, that each Wilaya (regional district) shall keep a register (file), hard copy and electronic copy, of all holders of firearms under its jurisdiction. This article was amended by the Decree 04-304, to allow the adoption of a regulation that would standardise these registers and would establish a National Database (national register).
According to the Algerian legislation, manufacturers and dealers are required to keep firearms registers for a period of 15 years, after which these will be kept in the archives for an unlimited period. In case of cessation of the business, they must submit, without delay, these registers to the concerned State authorities.
