Marking, Record Keeping and Tracing

Slovenian laws and regulations require licensed manufacturers of SALW to apply an appropriate and reliable marking on each weapon. Weapons held by bodies authorized to wear, use, keep and maintain them (Slovenian Arms, Police, Prison Administration, and Customs Service) have no special/additional imprinted marks.

All weapons are entered in the register of weapons according to type and serial number. The system provides information on the origin of the weapons, including the country of manufacture, name of manufacturer, city and state of manufacturer, model and calibre.

All records on the manufacture, holding and transfer of SALW are kept permanently. In order to maintain the highest achievable standards for safety and security of SALW, the status of weapons is subject to regular checking and inspection.
