Article 63. Permit to Foreigners to Import Arms and Ammunition

Foreigners, who import temporarily permitted firearms for use exclusively in sports competitions, may import as part of their luggage up to five hundred bullets without paying the corresponding taxes.

They may also import on a temporary basis up to four permitted firearms for the sole use in sports competitions or hunting activities, but they must show these arms to Customs authorities when entering the country. Customs authorities will write down the firearms' serial number and other characteristics in the importer's passport and inform the Arms and Explosives Control Department.

When leaving the country, tourists must show to the authorities the firearms that they brought or a certificate issued by the Department that explains why the arms cannot be shown.
