8. Brokering

Customs brokers carry out their activities in accordance with the Constitution and the Customs Code of the Republic of Moldova, international agreements to which the Republic of Moldova is a party and other regulatory acts. Customs brokering activities are licensed in accordance with the Act on licensing regulation of business activities and the Customs Code. In order to obtain a licence as a customs broker, a legal entity must: have on its staff at least one customs clearance specialist; have sufficient physical infrastructure to operate as a customs broker; to have the sum of 8 million lei in the form of a deposit in the account of a customs body or in the form of a bank guarantee issued to the customs authority in order to cover liability for customs duties; and to meet other requirements as set out by law.
The Licensing Board keeps a registry of licensed customs brokers and ensures its periodic publication in accordance with the law.
