Del 2001 al 2005 se han incautado 16.970 armas pequeñas y ligeras por parte de la Policía Nacional Civil, de las cuales el 38.8% provienen geográficamente de la Ciudad de Guatemala. En una gran mayoría, alrededor del 43%, las armas de fuego incautadas son pistolas, en segundo lugar revólveres 24%, tercer lugar las escopetas, 11%, en cuarto lugar las armas hechizas o de fabricación artesanal 10.6% y el 11.4% comprende otros tipos de armas de fuego. Del total incautado en esos años, el 1.91% era portado por una mujer y el 7.8% tenía licencia de portación en el momento.

From 2001 to 2005, 16,970 small arms and light weapons have been seized by the National Police, 38.8% came from Guatemala City. Around 43% were pistols, 24% were revolvers, 11% were rifles and 10.6% were firearms made by craft producers (home-made guns). Of the total seized, 1.91% were carried by women and 7.8% by a person in possession of a user licence.
