Statistics on Illicit Trafficking in Small Arms and Light Weapons Registered in Latvia

In 2003 37,581 owners of firearms - physical persons - were registered in Latvia, 27,503 of whom are hunters.

A total of 55,540 firearms are registered in the possession of hunters, of which:

- 10,883 pistols and revolvers (of those, 8,339 to carry)
- 1,038 smooth barrel rifles for self-defence
- 36,224 hunting rifles for hunting
- 7,395 rifled barrel hunting carbines and combined rifles.

In 2003 122 armed objects of legal persons were registered in Latvia (not including trade outlets), having 2,020 weapons, of which:

- automatic weapons: 11
- carbines, rifles: 16
- small calibre and sports rifles: 510
- pistols (revolvers): 1,320
- smooth barrel shotguns: 163
