83. Register of firearms

(1) The Commissioner is to compile and maintain a register of firearms registered under this Part.

(2) The register is to contain -
(a) sufficient particulars of the firearm to identify the firearm; and
(b) the name and address of the registrant; and
(c) particulars of the licence and permit the registrant holds; and
(d) any other prescribed information.

(3) The register is to be in a form that -
(a) enables it to be linked to CrimTrac; and
(b) enables approved authorities in another State or Territory to access the information contained in it.

(4) In this section -
"CrimTrac" means the CrimTrac Agency established under section 65 of the Public Service Act 1999 of the Commonwealth.
