Measures Taken by the Government with a View to Implementing the Programme Include the Following:

1. Field studies were undertaken that indicate the presence of no more than 8 million working weapons in Yemen. There are erroneous reports in circulation that are not based on precise information alleging that the figure is 50 million, but that figure is not correct.

2. It was decided that all arms markets should be closed and any arms found by the Government should be seized. Such markets no longer exist.

3. Only the Government now has the right to import arms: no individual may do so.
