Norwegian Initiative on Small Arms Transfers

This online database publishes declared exports and imports of small arms, searchable by country and by year. The database does not provide a definitive value for states' exports and imports.

The standardised international COMTRADE (Customs) data categories often include small arms and other military and law enforcement equipment which are not firearms. Ammunition and parts may also be included in COMTRADE data where they are not relevant to small arms. Although GunPolicy.org excludes these where evident, users seeking to verify or refine declared export/import figures should consult the NISAT Small Arms Database Public User's Manual, last seen at:

http://www.prio.no/upload/NISAT/NISAT%20database%20public%20user%20manual.pdf

A password-protected NISAT 'Researchers' Database' allows more detailed country searches, along with additional data-interpretation advice to users.
