Draft Law History

The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste has proposed new legislation on firearms that would give the Commander of Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) the power to grant firearms licences to civilians.

The proposed law was first voted down in the National Parliament on June 25, 2008, and further attempts to debate the issue on 30 June were suspended following a tied vote in parliament.
