Le Sénégal n'est pas un pays exportateur mais importateur d' armes pour les besoins de défense et de sécurité.
La législation nationale a instauré un système strict de délivrance d'autorisations/licences préalable par les autorités administratives compétentes pour les activités d'importation, d'exportation, et de transit portant sur les armes à feu, leurs pièces, éléments et munitions.
Il s'agit de:
- la loi n° 66-03 du 18 janvier 1966 relative au régime général des armes et munitions
- le décret n°66-889 du 17 novembre 1966 fixant les modalités d'application de la loi n°66-03 du 18 janvier 1966, relative au régime général des armes et munitions.
Des projets de lois et de décrets ont été élaborés pôur modifier ces textes et les rendre plus conformes aux engagements internationx du pays…

Senegal does not export firearms, but it does import firearms for defence and security purposes. National legislation instored a strict system regarding the grant of prior authorisations/licences by the competent administrative authorities for the import, export, and transit for firearms, their parts, components and ammunition:
- Act No. 66-03 of January 18, 1966, on the arms and ammunition regime;
- Decree No. 66-889 of Novembre 17, 1966, establishing the implementing measures of the Act No. 66-03 of January 18, 1966, on the arms and ammunition regime.
Bills are currently under study to modify these texts and make them more consistent with the country's international commitments…
