Article 1. Objective

This Act lays down the legal system to regulate the possession, carrying, import, export, commerce, storage, brokering, transport and trafficking of firearms, ammunition and related materials, by individuals, in relation with Article 312 of the Constitution.

Article 2. Scope of Application

This Act regulates the commerce, possession and carrying of firearms, ammunition and related materials within the national territory of the Republic of Panama, which are not weapons or elements of war whose possession will be exclusively used by the National Government, as well as transfer, brokering or transport of firearms, ammunition and related materials conducted from or across the national territory.

[Editor's Note: After reviewing available legislation and other source documents, GunPolicy.org found no evidence of a provision in law to regulate this aspect of firearm policy. As some authorities enforce restrictions only in practice, the mere absence of a published legal provision should be treated with caution]
