Articulo 144. Marcado de Armas

Las armas de fuego sin marcar serán consideradas ilegales y por tanto sujetas a la incautación. Sin embargo, a efectos de regulación y de aplicación del artículo 1561 de a Ley, las armas de fuego sin número de serie pueden conservarse siempre que se marquen adecuadamente, por una sola vez. La DAEM le asignará un número o marcado adicional para que pueda ayudar a mejorar la posibilidad de rastreo del arma, en la forma siguiente:

- El documento de titularidad del arma debe coincidir con las otras características del arma de fuego
- La DAEM asignará un número sucesivo que llevará para estos efectos
- La DAEM designará el taller para el estampado del número, de no menos de .2 mm de profundidad en la parte metálica.
- Se dejará constancia de los hechos en el expediente personal
- El costo del marcaje será pagado por cuenta del interesado.

Los marcados de identificación mínimos deben aparecer en el componente estructural principal, que es generalmente el bastidor o el cajón de mecanismos del arma.

Article 144. Firearm Marking

Unmarked firearms shall be considered illegal, and accordingly, subject to confiscation. Nonetheless, for regulatory purposes and in accordance with Article 1561 of the Act, firearms without a serial number may be kept if they are properly marked, and only once. DAEM shall give them an additional number or mark in order to increase the possibilities of tracing, as follows:

- The firearm's ownership document must coincide with the other characteristics of the firearm
- DAEM shall assign a consecutive number that shall be used for these purposes
- DAEM shall appoint a workshop where the number shall be carved, no smaller than .2 mm in a metallic part
- Records of all the above shall be kept in a personal file
- The costs of the marking process shall be paid by the applicant

The basic identification markings must appear in the main component of the structure, usually the frame or the receiver of the firearm.
