In total, just over half a million Swedes have a weapons license. Most in northern Sweden, where every eighth Swede owns a weapon. And on top of that, of course, there are a lot of illegal weapons. The police do not want to make an estimate of how many, but in 2014, 1,300 weapons were seized and the majority of them were not hunting weapons.
