Police have seized 170 guns from a Central West firearms dealership.

Officers from Lachlan Local Area Command executed a search warrant on the business in Renshaw McGirr Way, Parkes about 9.20am on Thursday.

They took possession of 160 long arms, 10 handguns, a silencer and other items.

Local licensing officers conducted a thorough audit of the dealership last month and detected numerous breaches of the Firearms Act 1996 relating to the safe storage of firearms.

As a result, the Firearms Registry decided not to renew the dealer's licence and revoked his personal shooter's licence.

Inquiries by Parkes police are ongoing.
