A licensed firearms dealer on the NSW central tablelands has had more than 1400 firearms and four tonnes of ammunition seized by police, but was released without charges.

[Police] allegedly found unregistered and improperly stored firearms including handguns and rifles as well as more than four tonnes of ammunition.

The dealer's entire stock of firearms has been seized and police say their inquiries will focus on a portion of the weapons, their origin and ownership.
