Comelec Gets Over 5,000 Applications for Gun Ban Exemption

More than 100 politicians have been exempted from the gun ban that is being enforced to prevent violence in the run-up to the May 14 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday.

Comelec Commissioner Nicodemu Ferrer, who is in charge of the gun ban, said these 100 politicians are among the 5,000 individuals who filed for exemption. The poll body started implementing the ban last Jan. 14.
