It is a well-known fact that arms and ammunition of various sophistications are being smuggled into the country on a daily basis. Some of the gun runners appre-hended admitted that it is a very lucrative enterprise, it then goes without saying that the vast majority of the "imported" arms fall into wrong hands. Plateau State Police Command has smashed an illegal firearms syndicate which specialised in hawking firearms and forging firearm licenses. State commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Fagbemi told newsmen in Jos that the arrest followed a tip off which yielded the arrest of one Wilfred Ilo who came to Jos from Onitsha and one Anieleche Akpan an ex-police sergeant who confessed being responsible for forging firearms licences. LAGOS -- The Lagos State shooting Association (LSSA) is leading a campaign aimed at promoting amateur sport shooting by preaching to all and sundry that the game, contrary to widespread belief, is not dangerous. Secretary-General of LSSA, Kunle Akintimehin, who stated that often times sport shooting is misconceived to be a dangerous sport, disclosed that the game is meant for athletes of high integrity.
