US School Shootings: Guns on Campus Are the Problem, Not the Solution

Dallas Morning News (Texas), Opinion

Three college professors who favor forcing Texas colleges to accept loaded, concealed handguns on campus wrote on Viewpoints last week, saying they "want to reduce the odds of a Virginia Tech massacre happening on a Texas college campus." I was shot at Virginia Tech. With respect, I think those professors are clueless about what it's like to be in the middle of such a situation. I think putting weapons on Texas campuses is a crazy,... Columbine Gun Control Momentum 'Long Since Petered Out' in America

Time (USA)
15 April 2009

Monday April 20 marks 10 years since Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold permanently etched the words Columbine High School into this nation's collective memory. What happened that day in 1999 also seemed to wake America up to the reality that it had become a nation of gun owners -- and too often a nation of shooters. The carnage in Littleton, Colorado -- 12 classmates and a teacher before the killers offed themselves -- and the ease... ( gunpolicy.org )

Gun Lobby Bill for Even Slacker Gun Laws 'Has No Place in Montana'

Helena Independent Record (Montana), Editorial
7 April 2009

There are a number of broad and sweeping philosophical bills before the Legislature this year. Some attempt to score incremental wins in the larger spectrum of controversial issues like abortion, health care and gun rights. Take, for example, House Bill 228. Some major amendments were made last week to HB 228 - the "gun bill" -- that move this highly contentious bill from a one-sided extreme closer to middle ground.... ( gunpolicy.org )
