Replica Glock Pistols Spark New Zealand Police Warning

An upsurge in young people "mucking around" with replica guns has Papakura police worried someone will end up hurt or worse. Senior sergeant Mike McIlraith says police have had three callouts in the past week to youths brandishing weapons in public. The guns turned out to be replicas, he says, but police procedure is to assume they're real. In these callouts "it's prudent for us to take precautions by arming ourselves" so anyone carrying replica weapons in public is putting themselves and police in real danger, he says. Seized Guns, Ammunition Illegally Imported from United States to Nigeria

The Tin-can Island command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted arms and 1,767 rounds of ammunition concealed in three jeeps being illegally imported into the country and has also detained four persons said to include the consignee and the agent. While handing over the items which includes 1,767 rounds of ammunition, two pistols, two single barrel riffles and three short pump action riffles to the port police authority, Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, David Agbaje, told journalists that they were brought into the country from the United States of America (USA).
